Ruth Felsen MD, FACS
Dr. Ruth Felsen is board certified in General Surgery, and has dedicated her practice to Breast Surgery for many years. She was Valedictorian of her high school class and of her class at the University of Maryland, from which she received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Linguistics. She graduated from Harvard Medical School, and completed her General Surgery Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Her residency training included an additional one year international surgical fellowship in Ecuador. She has been in practice in Richmond since 1996. She serves as the Medical Director of Breast Services at the Sarah Cannon Institute at CJW Medical Center, and has been voted a Top Doc for Breast Surgery by Richmond Magazine for multiple consecutive years. She has certifications in Breast Ultrasound and Minimally Invasive Breast Biopsy, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is also a member of multiple professional organizations including the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She has served as an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Surgery Certifying Examination. She is also fluent in Spanish. As a Breast Surgeon, she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant breast disease, performs breast cancer operations, and coordinates all aspects of breast cancer care for her patients.
